Chateau Lafite Rothschild History Chateau Lafite Rothschild is located in the appellation of Pauillac on the left (western) bank of the Gironde Estuary. Lafite was one of the original four first growths identified in the 1855 Classification of Bordeaux, the other three being Margaux, Latour and Haut Brion. (Mouton was elevated in 1973).
